INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD: BASA CELEBRATES

It's the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD. To comemorate the day, Hon Bolanle Aminat Sarumi Aliyu (popularly called BASA) has joined people the word over to celebrate the GIRL CHILD.
A message made available to press on Friday 11th October 2024 reads:

On this International Day of the Girl Child, we come together to honor the strength, resilience, and limitless potential of over 1.1 billion girls worldwide. This year's theme, *"Girls' Vision for the Future,"* is a call to recognize the power that girls hold to shape a brighter tomorrow.

Despite their boundless promise, too many girls are still denied the basic rights they deserve. They face the harsh realities of poverty, conflict, climate crises, and a growing pushback on gender equality. The choices and opportunities that should be theirs are too often stolen, limiting their futures.

But today, we can change that. I call on all First Ladies, female ministers, senators, representatives, assembly members, and the wives of all in the National Assembly to step forward. Let us reach out to the girls in our states and constituencies. Let us listen to their dreams, invest in their growth, and champion their rights. Because when we support our girls with the right resources, opportunities, and encouragement, their potential is limitless.

Together, we can ensure that the girls of today become the empowered leaders, innovators, and changemakers of tomorrow. Let us build a future where every girl can confidently pursue her vision and realize her dreams.

Signed
