OYO CLOSES DOWN QUACK PRIVATE MEDICAL FACILITIES

Four medical facilities have been closed down by Oyo State Government in Ibadan, the state capital over charges of quackery. This in line with the pacesetter state’s zero tolerance for Medical quackery.

The facilities were reportedly closed down non-registration to  practice, practicing beyond their scope  and running medical laboratories by non-qualified personnel.

According to Dr. Wale Falana the closure of the facilities was in response to reports of malpractices, excessive billing  and not providing of commensurate treatment by members of the public.

According to Falana, Nigerians visiting private hospitals must always ensure such facilities bear a current license of practice by the health authority in the state. If in doubt, he advised patients to patronize government hospitals.

He further said, “As the controlling authority  on private health facilities in the state, we periodically monitor these facilities to see what they are doing.”

“It is to sanitize yhe health system. Oyo state government has zero tolerance for quackery, we advise those not ready to register to leave the state.”, he concluded.

Dr Wale Falana is the State Director of Secondary Health Care and Training/
