GROUP CHIDES OLAYEMI, SUNKANMI ON IRRESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP

Leadership and positions of power must be attached with commensurate responsibility.

This is the view of the Egbeda Youth Vanguard (EYV) after an emergency meeting on Sunday 23rd July 2023.

Mr Layi Oyedeji, the Chairman of EYV said two events over the weekend show Hon Busari Olayemi and the Member representing Egbeda in the Oyo  State House of Assembly, Hon Olasunkanmi as neither responsible nor responsive.

The group further said “After the heavy rains on Sunday, massive floods were reported in two prominent places within Egbeda local government area.

In Olodo and Pineapple Street in Ogungbade the floods wreaked so much havoc endangering lives and property. Houses were submerged, vehicles and properties worth Hundreds of Millions of Naira were either destroyed or swept away by the ravaging flood.”

Oyedeji said EYV mobilized to the two places and in conjunction with the youth in the area rendered the little help they could. He said Calls were put across to Hon Olasunkanmi and Busari Olayemi but they refused to bulge from their comfort zones.

The group feels this amounts to irresponsibility on their parts to display apathy to the plights of their constituents.

These are people who want to be seen as leaders in Egbeda.

The other occasion was the councillorship primaries on Saturday at the SDP building. It is no gainsaying that Hon Ibrahim Oladebo, the Councillor representing Ward10, who is also the Leader of the House, is  one of the most vibrant councilors in the state. Members of his ward gave him the needed support to return for a second term as councilor.

Busari Olayemi would not have any of that. The will of the people doesn’t matter to him. He is insisting on an unknown loyalist of his who just joined the party. In perpetrating this evil, Olayemi keeps bandying the name of His Excellency the Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde. He tells people he is doing the wish of the governor.

The group also seized the opportunity to congratulate Mr Akin Funmilayo on his nomination as a Commissioner in the State. They prayed he will live up to and surpass his reputation and a people friendly and kind man.
